Caribbean Dreaming (Larimar & apatite)
An absolute stunner that takes you away to a seaside vacation. A Larimar pendant, swirled with Caribbean blue and sea green, pairs perfectly with sparkly aqua apatite. Accented with a small pearl and sterling silver beads. Unique sterling silver chain of interlocking rings, finished with a sterling silver lobster claw clasp. Larimar is a very special stone, found only in the Dominican Republic in a mountainous, relatively inaccessible area in the province of Barahona. In 1974, Norman Rilling, a member of the U.S. Peace Corps, and Miguel Méndez, a Dominican, found pieces of Larimar on the seashore and coined the name, "Larimar", a combination of Rilling's daughter’s name Larissa and the Spanish world for sea, Mar. Before Mendez and Rilling, local inhabitants of the region and their ancestors had long been aware of the stone. Larimar pendant is a little more than 1¼". Necklace can be worn 18" - 20". |
